HISTORY

A stroll through Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek, hidden from view along State Route 89A, is more like a walk through history. The lodge’s kitchen is housed in the original homestead, which dates to the early 1900s. Nearby are the original cabins, which the Todd family relocated here around the 1930s. And some of the 350 apple trees in the orchards are more than a century old and still bearing fruit.

The Garland family bought Todd’s Lodge in the 1970s and rechristened it Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge, and for four decades, its idyllic setting made it a premier destination in Arizona.

  • Tell me about your orchards and garden on property?

The terrior (specific soil and location conditions for growing) at Orchard Canyon creates a unique set of conditions that produce exceptional apples in twelve varieties on our ten-acre property. Our three-acre historic heirloom apple and peach orchard trees have been producing fruit for generations that we eat fresh, fold into our cuisine, sell as retail if we have an abundant year, and press apple cider from. Harvest season starts in September and runs through November each year. We also have a few apricot and cherry trees on the property, as well as a garden that offers vegetables, herbs, and flowers that are utilized seasonally for meals during your stay. Thank you for recognizing that we are not a “u-pick” site and please understand that we utilize our fruit for your meals during your stay. Come to our front Lobby to buy a bounty of items from our orchard during an abundant year.

Enjoy walking through our orchards and ask for a special request to dine at one of our many outdoor tables, including a special space in our garden on the upper portion of our property.

The Sedona Cares Pledge

We would like to take this opportunity to ask our guests to take the new Sedona Cares Pledge! Visit SedonaCares.com and view the 10 commitments below. Sedona is making a commitment to protect our fragile environment with a sustainable Pledge! Encouraging locals and visitors to take and share the Pledge will help keep Sedona the best place to live, work, play and visit.

PLEASE JOIN US IN THE SEDONA CARES PLEDGE!

  • I vow to respect the natural quiet of Sedona's open spaces and neighborhoods.
  • I will be mindful of Sedona's arid environment by minimizing water and energy use and I will be extremely careful with fire.
  • I'll make my own memories but not my own trails.
  • I won't risk life or limb - human or sapling - for more likes. I won't get killed for a killer photo.
  • When playing outside, I'll be ready for rapid changes in the weather and random episodes of magic.
  • I'll leave no trace and pack out all my trash. That includes TP and pup poo!
  • I will discover art in Sedona's galleries rather than making my own. Carving on trees or rocks, stacking stones, or defacing the environment tarnishes nature's art.
  • If I can't find a parking space, I will not invent my own. I will go with the traffic flow, using my turn signal often and my car horn seldom.
  • I will be caring and considerate wherever I go, because that is the Sedona way.
  • I promise to fulfill the commitments of this Pledge, thereby doing my part to keep Sedona the most Beautiful Place on Earth.

THANK YOU AND ENJOY YOUR STAY IN SEDONA!!
